Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Roxy-WI up to 8.2.6.4. This affects some unknown functionality of the file app/modules/config/config.py. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Roxy-WI is a web interface for managing Haproxy, Nginx, Apache and Keepalived servers. In versions 8.2.6.4 and prior, ommit d4d10006 ("Expand validation to block .. in config_file_name and configver for improved security") added a line in app/modules/config/config.py:462. This is tuple-membership, not substring containment — '..' in (a, b, c) evaluates to True only if any of a, b, c is equal to the literal string '..'. For any realistic path-traversal payload (../../etc/passwd, ..\\..\\etc\\passwd, etc.) the check returns False and the patch silently lets the payload through. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-45569 since 05/12/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com.
