Details
A vulnerability has been found in Wertheim SafeController 5400 Hardware for VAULT ROOMS 6.11.8130.22320 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authentication replay vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-294. A capture-replay flaw exists when the design of the product makes it possible for a malicious user to sniff network traffic and bypass authentication by replaying it to the server in question to the same effect as the original message (or with minor changes). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The Wertheim SafeController 5400, Controller 5400 - AssemblyVersion 6.11.8130.22320, uses RS-485 communication between the server and the microcontroller without cryptographic protection. An attacker with access to the communication path between the server and the microcontroller can sniff RS-485 messages and replay previously observed messages. This can be used, for example, to spoof a "quit alarm" message and continuously deactivate the safe alarm.
The weakness was published by Gorazd Jank. The advisory is shared at wertheim-safes.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-34021 since 03/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
