Moxa NPort W2150A-W4/W2250A-W4/NPort W2150A/W2250A up to 1.5 Web Service alias format string

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Moxa NPort W2150A-W4, W2250A-W4, NPort W2150A and W2250A up to 1.5. Affected is some unknown processing of the component Web Service. The manipulation of the argument alias with an unknown input leads to a format string vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-134. The product uses a function that accepts a format string as an argument, but the format string originates from an external source. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

A format string vulnerability has been found in the "alias" parameter of the Serial Param configuration page in the NPort W2150A-W4/W2250A-W4 Series version 1.5 and prior. This vulnerability stems from insufficient input validation and improper handling of externally supplied format strings. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted input to the web service, causing unintended memory disclosure. Successful exploitation may allow an attacker to leak sensitive memory contents and determine critical memory addresses, potentially bypassing Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) protections.

The weakness was released by Remi Onno. The advisory is available at moxa.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-10828 since 06/04/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy.
