A vulnerability was found in F5 FirePass 4100 (version now known). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file my.activation.php3 of the component SSL VPN. The manipulation of the argument username with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. my.activation.php3 in F5 FirePass 4100 SSL VPN allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands via shell metacharacters in the username parameter.
The bug was discovered 02/14/2007. The weakness was shared 06/04/2007 by Leonardo Nve (Website). The advisory is shared at secunia.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-3097 since 06/06/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
