Details
A vulnerability was found in Black Lantern Security BBOT up to 2.8.4. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component Response Header Handler. The manipulation of the argument realm with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The docker_pull module uses the realm parameter from a Docker registry's WWW-Authenticate response header as the authentication endpoint without validation. An attacker in a man-in-the-middle position between bbot and a Docker registry could modify this header to redirect the authentication request to an arbitrary endpoint, potentially leaking authentication tokens.
