aio-libs aiohttp up to 3.14.0 certificate host validation

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in aio-libs aiohttp up to 3.14.0 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a certificate host validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-297. The product communicates with a host that provides a certificate, but the product does not properly ensure that the certificate is actually associated with that host. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:

AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. Prior to 3.14.1, the server_hostname TLS SNI check can be bypassed when an existing connection is reused. If an application makes multiple requests to the same domain, but with different per-request server_hostname parameters, then the later calls may succeed by reusing the existing connection when they should have been rejected due to the TLS SNI check. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.14.1.

The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-54275 since 06/12/2026. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1587.003 for this issue.
