Details
A vulnerability was found in nestjs nest up to 11.1.23. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function MiddlewareConsumer.forRoutes. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authorization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-863. The product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. This allows attackers to bypass intended access restrictions. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Nest is a framework for building scalable Node.js server-side applications. Prior to 11.1.24, an authentication bypass vulnerability exists in @nestjs/platform-fastify. When middleware is registered through NestJS's MiddlewareConsumer.forRoutes() API on the Fastify adapter, an unauthenticated client can bypass the Nest middleware registered for that route by simply appending a trailing slash (/) to the request URL. This bypass works on the default Fastify adapter configuration. This vulnerability is fixed in 11.1.24.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-54281 since 06/12/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
