HP System Management Homepage (SMH) before 2.1.9 for Linux, when used with Novell eDirectory, assigns the eDirectory members to the root group, which allows remote authenticated eDirectory users to gain privileges.

The bug was discovered 06/12/2007. The weakness was disclosed 06/12/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at h20000.www2.hp.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-3260 since 06/19/2007. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
