Details
A vulnerability has been found in opf openproject up to 17.3.2/17.4.0 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component Cache Backend. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cleartext storage in file vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-313. The product stores sensitive information in cleartext in a file, or on disk. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
OpenProject is open-source, web-based project management software. Prior to 17.3.3 and 17.4.1, OpenProject's Storages module writes the OneDrive/SharePoint userless OAuth access_token plaintext to Rails.cache under the deterministic key storage..httpx_access_token, repopulated continuously by an hourly cron and every userless-OAuth call site (see Write cadence). None of the three allowed cache backends (file_store, memcache, redis) encrypts at rest. An attacker with read access to the cache backend recovers the Azure-AD application-tier bearer with an anonymous get over the memcached binary protocol (or the equivalent against Redis). This vulnerability is fixed in 17.3.3 and 17.4.1.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-52783 since 06/08/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1555 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 17.3.3 or 17.4.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
