A vulnerability has been found in fzf up to 0.73.0 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function FuzzyMatchV2. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:
fzf is vulnerable to Integer Overflow leading to crash in FuzzyMatchV2 function. When input line length is approximately 2,200,000 bytes and pattern length is 999 bytes, the product overflows. The Go runtime detects the invalid slice bounds and terminates the process immediately with a non-recoverable panic. This issue was fixed in version 0.73.1.
