Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Flowise up to 3.0.x. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file packages/server/src/enterprise/middleware/passport/index.ts of the component Environment Variable Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a hard-coded credentials vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-798. The product contains hard-coded credentials, such as a password or cryptographic key, which it uses for its own inbound authentication, outbound communication to external components, or encryption of internal data. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Flowise before 3.1.0 (affected versions 3.0.13 and earlier) uses a weak hardcoded default secret ('flowise') for the express-session middleware when the EXPRESS_SESSION_SECRET environment variable is not set (packages/server/src/enterprise/middleware/passport/index.ts). Because this default secret is publicly visible in the source code, an attacker can forge valid signed session cookies to impersonate any user and bypass authentication.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-56278 since 06/20/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1110.001.
Upgrading to version 3.1.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
