Details
A vulnerability was found in coollabsio Coolify up to 4.0.0-beta.470 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component TrustProxies. The manipulation of the argument X-Forwarded-Host with an unknown input leads to a password recovery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-640. The product contains a mechanism for users to recover or change their passwords without knowing the original password, but the mechanism is weak. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Coolify is an open-source and self-hostable tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. Prior to 4.0.0-beta.471, the TrustProxies middleware trusts all proxies ($proxies = '*'), accepting X-Forwarded-Host from any source. The TrustHosts middleware, intended to prevent host header attacks, has a circular caching dependency that prevents it from ever validating hosts. When a password reset is requested, the ResetPassword notification generates the reset URL using url(route(..., false)), which derives the host from the (spoofable) request. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger a password reset email containing a link pointing to an attacker-controlled domain, enabling token theft and account takeover. This issue is fixed in version 4.0.0-beta.471.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-34198 since 03/26/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1552.
Upgrading to version 4.0.0-beta.471 eliminates this vulnerability.
