Details
A vulnerability was found in Cisco RV130, RV130W and RV110W 1.0.3.55/1.2.2.5/1.2.2.8. It has been classified as very critical. This affects the function save_syslog_to_file of the component Syslog Configuration Handler. The manipulation of the argument model_name with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An OS command injection vulnerability exists in the save_syslog_to_file() function of the "httpd" binary in Cisco RV130/RV130W with firmware 1.0.3.55 and RV110W routers with firmware 1.2.2.5 / 1.2.2.8. The model_name configuration parameter is not properly sanitized, which could allow an authenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-24698 since 01/23/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/08/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
