Such manipulation leads to weak password hash. This vulnerability is listed as CVE-2026-41879. The attack may be performed from remote. There is no available exploit.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in R-SOFT SERWIS DMS. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file configuration file of the component Password Hash Storage. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak password hash vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-916. The product generates a hash for a password, but it uses a scheme that does not provide a sufficient level of computational effort that would make password cracking attacks infeasible or expensive. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

R-SOFT DMS stores superadmin credentials using a non-salted nested MD5 hash. This allows an attacker who obtain password hash to decode superadmin credentials. Critically, this password cannot be changed except by modifying the configuration file. This issue was fixed in version v3.17-2000.

The advisory is shared for download at cert.pl. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-41879 since 04/22/2026. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1552.
