Details
A vulnerability was found in Flowise up to 3.0.x. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the file packages/server/src/enterprise/middleware/passport/index.ts of the component Enterprise Passport Authentication Middleware. The manipulation of the argument JWT_AUTH_TOKEN_SECRET/JWT_REFRESH_TOKEN_SECRET with an unknown input leads to a inadequate encryption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-326. The product stores or transmits sensitive data using an encryption scheme that is theoretically sound, but is not strong enough for the level of protection required. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Flowise before 3.1.0 (affected versions 3.0.13 and earlier) uses weak hardcoded default JWT secrets ('auth_token', 'refresh_token') and default audience and issuer values ('AUDIENCE', 'ISSUER') in the enterprise passport authentication middleware (packages/server/src/enterprise/middleware/passport/index.ts). When the corresponding environment variables (JWT_AUTH_TOKEN_SECRET, JWT_REFRESH_TOKEN_SECRET, JWT_AUDIENCE, JWT_ISSUER) are not set, the application silently falls back to these publicly known defaults, allowing an attacker to forge valid JWTs and impersonate any user, including administrators, resulting in authentication bypass.
It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-56271 since 06/20/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1600 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Upgrading to version 3.1.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-43228). Be aware that VulDB is the high quality source for vulnerability data.
