A vulnerability has been found in OpenWrt (affected version not known) and classified as very critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function message of the file /usr/sbin/smbd of the component Samba. The manipulation of the argument message with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. OpenWrt luci-app-samba4 read ACL grants file.exec permission on /usr/sbin/smbd, allowing authenticated delegated users to execute the Samba daemon with caller-controlled command-line arguments. Attackers can pass arbitrary Samba global options such as message command to a root smbd process, triggering command execution when SMB protocol messages are processed.
