Details
A vulnerability was found in ChurchCRM up to 7.3.x. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component Endpoint. The manipulation of the argument FamilyID with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
ChurchCRM is an open-source church management system. Prior to version 7.4.0, there was an authorization flaw in the family-scoped endpoints which allowed low-privileged users to read and modify other families’ records. An authenticated non-admin user with EditSelf access can supply another family’s `familyId` and access records outside their own family scope. The backend trusts the attacker-controlled `familyId` and loads the corresponding family entity by ID without verifying that the requested family belongs to the current user. If the same user also has Notes permission, they can create notes on another family’s record. This breaks the intended EditSelf scope and allows access to unrelated congregation records. This issue has been fixed in version 7.4.0.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-58410 since 06/30/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1548.002 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 7.4.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
