The STUN implementation in Asterisk 1.4.x before 1.4.8, AsteriskNOW before beta7, Appliance Developer Kit before 0.5.0, and s800i before 1.0.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted STUN length attribute in a STUN packet sent on an RTP port.
The weakness was disclosed 07/18/2007 by Chris Clark (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at ftp.digium.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-3765 since 07/13/2007. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1499 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 1.4_beta eliminates this vulnerability.
