Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in TP-Link Kasa v4. This affects an unknown part of the component Web Management Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a channel accessible vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-300. The product does not adequately verify the identity of actors at both ends of a communication channel, or does not adequately ensure the integrity of the channel, in a way that allows the channel to be accessed or influenced by an actor that is not an endpoint. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Kasa EC71 v4 and EC70 v4 firmware contains a static cryptographic private key stored in a read-only filesystem that is shared across devices. An attacker with access to the firmware image can extract the embedded key. Successful exploitation may allow an unauthenticated attacker on the same network to use this key in the web management service, compromising the confidentiality of encrypted communications. This may enable passive decryption of traffic or active man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks
