A vulnerability was found in filebrowser File Browser up to 2.63.16. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function ReplaceAll of the component Archive Builder. The manipulation of the argument nameInArchive with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-23. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize sequences such as ".." that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
File Browser is a file managing interface for uploading, deleting, previewing, renaming, and editing files within a specified directory. From 2.63.6 to 2.63.16, File Browser's archive builder uses strings.ReplaceAll(nameInArchive, "\", "/"), which turns a POSIX filename such as ..\..\evil.sh into the archive entry ../../evil.sh, allowing a user with upload permission to plant a backslash-named file that escapes the extraction directory when another user downloads and extracts the generated zip or tar archive. This issue is fixed in version 2.63.17.
