Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Pegatron Corp. Tdelo64.sys. Affected by this vulnerability is the function TDE_IOCTL_INDEXIO_READ/TDE_IOCTL_INDEXIO_WRITE of the file Tdelo64.sys of the component IOCTL Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-284. The product does not restrict or incorrectly restricts access to a resource from an unauthorized actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Pegatron `Tdelo64.sys` improperly exposes privileged hardware access functionality through the `\\.\TdeIo` device interface. IOCTL handlers including `TDE_IOCTL_INDEXIO_READ` and `TDE_IOCTL_INDEXIO_WRITE` permit unprivileged user-mode callers to perform arbitrary hardware I/O port reads and writes without authorization checks. A local attacker can abuse this functionality to manipulate hardware registers, tamper with firmware-related interfaces, cause system instability, or establish persistent low-level compromise.
The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-14960 since 07/07/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/15/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 02-17-2025 eliminates this vulnerability.
