A vulnerability was found in libvorbis 1.1.2/1.2.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function _01inverse in the library lib/info.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-399. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. lib/info.c in libvorbis 1.1.2, and possibly other versions before 1.2.0, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via invalid (1) blocksize_0 and (2) blocksize_1 values, which trigger a "heap overwrite" in the _01inverse function in res0.c. NOTE: this issue has been RECAST so that CVE-2007-4029 handles additional vectors.
The bug was discovered 07/26/2007. The weakness was published 07/26/2007 by David Thiel (Website). The advisory is available at issues.rpath.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-3106 since 06/07/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
