Linux Kernel up to 6.6.142/6.12.92/6.18.34/7.0.11 Xpad xpadone_process_packet actual_length out-of-bounds

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.142/6.12.92/6.18.34/7.0.11. The affected element is the function xpadone_process_packet of the component Xpad. Performing a manipulation of the argument actual_length results in out-of-bounds. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-63943. The attack may be initiated remotely. There is no available exploit.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.142/6.12.92/6.18.34/7.0.11. It has been classified as very critical. This affects the function xpadone_process_packet of the component Xpad. The manipulation of the argument actual_length with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Input: xpad - fix out-of-bounds access for Share button xpadone_process_packet() receives len directly from urb->actual_length and uses it to index the share-button byte at data[len - 18] or data[len - 26]. Since both len and data[0] are under the device's control, a broken controller can send a GIP_CMD_INPUT packet with actual_length < 18 (e.g. 5 bytes) and reach this code path, causing accesses beyond the actual array. Fix this by calculating the offset and checking bounds against the packet length.

It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-63943 since 07/19/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/19/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.6.143, 6.12.93, 6.18.35 or 7.0.12 eliminates this vulnerability.
