Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.0.11 and classified as critical. This issue affects the function migrate_vma_insert_huge_pmd_page of the file mm/migrate_device of the component mm migrate_device. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/migrate_device: fix pgtable leak in migrate_vma_insert_huge_pmd_page When migrate_vma_insert_huge_pmd_page() jumps to unlock_abort due to a PMD check failure, the pgtable allocated earlier via pte_alloc_one() is never freed, causing a memory leak. Added free_abort label to release the pgtable in error path.
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-63953 since 07/19/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/19/2026). The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1499 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
