Linux Kernel up to 6.12.93/6.18.35/7.0.12 Bluetooth ISO dst/src/src_type race condition

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.93/6.18.35/7.0.12 and classified as very critical. This impacts the function iso_connect_bis/iso_connect_cis/iso_listen_bis/iso_conn_big_sync of the component Bluetooth ISO. Such manipulation of the argument dst/src/src_type leads to race condition. This vulnerability is referenced as CVE-2026-63871. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. No exploit is available.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.93/6.18.35/7.0.12. It has been rated as very critical. Affected by this issue is the function iso_connect_bis/iso_connect_cis/iso_listen_bis/iso_conn_big_sync of the component Bluetooth ISO. The manipulation of the argument dst/src/src_type with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: ISO: Fix data-race on iso_pi fields in hci_get_route calls iso_connect_bis(), iso_connect_cis(), iso_listen_bis(), and iso_conn_big_sync() call hci_get_route() using iso_pi(sk)->dst, iso_pi(sk)->src, and iso_pi(sk)->src_type without holding lock_sock(). These fields may be modified concurrently by connect() or setsockopt() on the same socket, resulting in data-races reported by KCSAN. Fix this by snapshotting the required fields under lock_sock() before calling hci_get_route(). BUG: KCSAN: data-race in memcmp+0x45/0xb0 race at unknown origin, with read to 0xffff8880122135cf of 1 bytes by task 333 on cpu 1: memcmp+0x45/0xb0 hci_get_route+0x27e/0x490 iso_connect_cis+0x4c/0xa10 iso_sock_connect+0x60e/0xb30 __sys_connect_file+0xbd/0xe0 __sys_connect+0xe0/0x110 __x64_sys_connect+0x40/0x50 x64_sys_call+0xcad/0x1c60 do_syscall_64+0x133/0x590 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-63871 since 07/19/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/19/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.94, 6.18.36 or 7.0.13 eliminates this vulnerability.
