Details
A vulnerability was found in Tor (Network Encryption Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Tor before 0.1.2.15 can select a guard node beyond the first listed never-before-connected-to guard node, which allows remote attackers with control of certain guard nodes to obtain sensitive information and possibly leverage further attacks.
The weakness was published 07/23/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared at archives.seul.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-4099 since 07/30/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
