The Visionsoft Audit on Demand Service (VSAOD) in Visionsoft Audit 12.4.0.0 uses weak cryptography (XOR) when (1) transmitting passwords, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information by sniffing the network; and (2) storing passwords in the configuration file, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information by reading this file.
The weakness was released 07/10/2007 by Tim Brown with Brown (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-4150 since 08/03/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
