A vulnerability was found in Exim up to 4.99.4. It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function. The manipulation of the argument queue-name with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Exim before 4.99.5 allows directory traversal to access files outside of the spool area, and consequently gain privileges, because arguments related to queue-name are mishandled.
