Linux Kernel up to 7.0.10 ti-qspi use after free

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.0.10. It has been rated as very critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component ti-qspi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: ti-qspi: fix use-after-free after DMA setup failure The driver falls back to PIO mode if DMA setup fails during probe. Make sure to clear the DMA channel pointer also if buffer allocation fails to avoid passing a pointer to the released channel to the DMA engine (or trying to free the channel a second time on late probe errors or driver unbind). This issue was flagged by Sashiko when reviewing a devres allocation conversion patch.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-64221 since 07/19/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/24/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.10.258, 5.15.209, 6.1.175, 6.6.142, 6.12.92, 6.18.34 or 7.0.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
