Details
A vulnerability was found in nuxsmin sysPass up to 3.2.11 and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function exec of the component FileBackupService. The manipulation of the argument siteBackupPath with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
sysPass through version 3.2.11 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary commands as the web server process user by setting a malicious backup path and triggering a backup. The FileBackupService builds a tar shell command via string concatenation, inserting the admin-configurable siteBackupPath setting without escapeshellarg() or equivalent sanitization before passing it to exec(), causing injected commands to persist and execute on every subsequent backup trigger.
