Linux Kernel up to 7.1.3 BPF/XDP dev_map_enqueue_clone/dev_map_redirect_clone out-of-bounds

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.1.3. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function dev_map_enqueue_clone/dev_map_redirect_clone of the component BPF/XDP. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Reject fragmented frames in devmap Devmap broadcast redirects clone the packet for all but the last destination. For native XDP, that clone path copies only the linear xdp_frame data, while fragmented frames keep skb_shared_info in tailroom outside the linear area. Cloning such a frame leaves XDP_FLAGS_HAS_FRAGS set but without valid frag metadata, and the later free path can interpret uninitialized tail data as skb_shared_info, leading to an out-of-bounds access during frame return. Reject fragmented native XDP frames in dev_map_enqueue_clone(). Add the same restriction to the generic XDP clone path in dev_map_redirect_clone(). Generic XDP represents fragmented packets as nonlinear skbs, and rejecting them here keeps clone-based broadcast support aligned between native and generic XDP.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-64355 since 07/19/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/25/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.15.212, 6.1.178, 6.6.145, 6.12.96, 6.18.39, 7.1.4 or 7.2-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 47baddc856ae7e93a565dd9deeb797999b179466/07a4c11ee8ef4abcb39d922e9e410ae269671cdf/bccbab36ff228e0825eb85d9b0f9b8434cd0a399/c5b4f5efcb55c1af3fe44ff712d31b7fb098a831/a9bb2d9c798cb62a4050a991c27b752770c33afe/51d07c12ca411e692c424ecdabf077f1e61a61be/aa496720618f1a6054f1c870bf10b4f6c99bf656 is able to eliminate this problem.
