Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in veraPDF veraPDF-validation up to 1.30.1/1.31.70. This affects the function PDFAValidator.validate/GFPDAcroForm.getdynamicRender of the component DocumentBuilderFactory. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a xml external entity reference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-611. The product processes an XML document that can contain XML entities with URIs that resolve to documents outside of the intended sphere of control, causing the product to embed incorrect documents into its output. veraPDF validation model is an implementation of the veraPDF validation model. From 1.25.73 until 1.30.2 and 1.31.71, veraPDF-validation contains an XML External Entity vulnerability in PDFAValidator.validate(...) and GFPDAcroForm.getdynamicRender(), where default DocumentBuilderFactory parsing of rich-text annotation or form-field values and XFA configurations in untrusted PDFs can allow local file disclosure and outbound network requests. This issue is fixed in versions 1.30.2 and 1.31.71.
