A vulnerability was found in Mambo 2.11 (Content Management System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument aid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. SQL injection vulnerability in index.php in the SimpleFAQ (com_simplefaq) 2.11 component for Mambo allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the aid parameter. NOTE: it was later reported that 2.40 is also affected, and that the component can be used in Joomla! in addition to Mambo.
The bug was discovered 08/20/2007. The weakness was released 08/21/2007 by k1tk4t (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com.
