Details
A vulnerability was found in CodeIgniter up to 4.7.3 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function IncomingRequest::isSecure. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
CodeIgniter is a PHP full-stack web framework. In versions prior to 4.7.4, IncomingRequest::isSecure() trusted the X-Forwarded-Proto and Front-End-Https headers from any incoming request, allowing an attacker could spoof these headers and cause the application to incorrectly treat an HTTP request as secure. This may have impacted applications that rely on isSecure(), force_https(), forceGlobalSecureRequests, or similar logic to enforce HTTPS-only access or make security-sensitive decisions. Exploitability depends on deployment configuration. Applications are most exposed if the backend is reachable directly over HTTP, or if a reverse proxy/load balancer forwards client-supplied forwarding headers without stripping or overwriting them. This issue has been fixed in version 4.7.4.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-63220 since 07/16/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
