Details
A vulnerability was found in better-auth Better Auth up to 1.4.4. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown function of the component Router. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Better Auth relies on better-call, which uses the rou3 router library. In affected versions of rou3, paths are normalized by removing empty segments, so /path, //path, and ///path resolve to the same route. In Better Auth versions prior to 1.4.5 (which bundles the fixed rou3), this can allow attackers to bypass disabledPaths configuration and path-based rate limits by submitting requests with extra slashes in the URL path. The issue does not apply in deployments where the proxy or platform normalizes URLs by collapsing multiple slashes.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-71399 since 07/18/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
