CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability identified as critical has been detected in XML::Sig up to 0.70. This vulnerability affects the function _get_signed_xml of the file lib/XML/Sig.pm. This manipulation of the argument ID causes data authenticity. This vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-9487. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. No exploit exists.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in XML::Sig up to 0.70. Affected by this vulnerability is the function _get_signed_xml of the file lib/XML/Sig.pm. The manipulation of the argument id with an unknown input leads to a data authenticity vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-345. The product does not sufficiently verify the origin or authenticity of data, in a way that causes it to accept invalid data. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

XML::Sig versions before 0.71 for Perl allow signature wrapping via duplicate ID. _get_signed_xml() in lib/XML/Sig.pm, called from verify(), resolves the SignedInfo Reference/@URI to a node with the XPath expression "//*[@ID='$id']" and returns the first node of the resulting node set. A document in which two elements share that ID value is accepted: the digest and signature are checked against whichever element comes first in document order, and the duplicate is not detected. Such a document verifies successfully while an application that resolves the same ID independently can read the second, attacker supplied element; in a SAML2 context this places the contents of an Assertion under attacker control.

The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-9487 since 05/24/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 0.71 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-52270). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
