Details
A vulnerability was found in TP-Link Omada Access Points, Omada Gateways, Omada OLTs and Omada Switches (affected version not known) and classified as very critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak hash vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-328. The product uses an algorithm that produces a digest (output value) that does not meet security expectations for a hash function that allows an adversary to reasonably determine the original input (preimage attack), find another input that can produce the same hash (2nd preimage attack), or find multiple inputs that evaluate to the same hash (birthday attack). Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A cryptographic weakness exists in affected Omada devices where site credentials are protected using a legacy hashing algorithm that does not provide sufficient protection. An attacker who obtains access to stored credential data may be able to recover valid credentials to gain unauthorized access to affected devices or management environments.
The advisory is available at omadanetworks.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-15631 since 04/10/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/03/2026). This vulnerability is assigned to T1600.001 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
