Details
A vulnerability was found in EnterpriseDB EnterpriseDB Advanced Server up to 8.1 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function pldbg_ of the component Listener. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.2 does not properly handle certain debugging function calls that occur before a call to pldbg_create_listener, which allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a SELECT statement that invokes a pldbg_ function, as demonstrated by (1) pldbg_get_stack and (2) pldbg_abort_target, which triggers use of an uninitialized pointer.
The weakness was released 08/31/2007 by Joxean Koret (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-4639 since 08/31/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
