CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.100/6.18.41/7.1.5/7.2-rc3. Affected is the function ieee80211_set_unsol_bcast_probe_resp of the file mm/slub.c of the component mac80211. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a double free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-415. The product calls free() twice on the same memory address, potentially leading to modification of unexpected memory locations. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: fix unsol_bcast_probe_resp double free on alloc failure ieee80211_set_unsol_bcast_probe_resp() calls kfree_rcu() on the old template before allocating the replacement. If the kzalloc() then fails, it returns -ENOMEM while link->u.ap.unsol_bcast_probe_resp still points at the object already queued for freeing. A later update or AP teardown re-queues that same rcu_head; the second free is caught by KASAN when the RCU sheaf is processed in softirq: BUG: KASAN: double-free in rcu_free_sheaf (mm/slub.c:5850) Free of addr ffff88800d06f300 by task exploit/145 ... __rcu_free_sheaf_prepare (mm/slub.c:2634 mm/slub.c:2940) rcu_free_sheaf (mm/slub.c:5850) rcu_core (kernel/rcu/tree.c:2617 kernel/rcu/tree.c:2869) handle_softirqs (kernel/softirq.c:622) The buggy address belongs to the cache kmalloc-128 of size 128 Queue the old object for kfree_rcu() only after the new one is published, matching ieee80211_set_probe_resp() and ieee80211_set_s1g_short_beacon().

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-64568 since 07/19/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/05/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.101, 6.18.42, 7.1.6 or 7.2-rc4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch ca27a81cd77b698e5eb586a011bee6800c7ee4bd/d62b55b7c7dc62887d7fd5648fb38f0bfaef53ae/0ace76e410d7f7d813b605825a3e593a79c3958f/1d067abcd37062426c59ec73dbc4e87a63f33fea is able to eliminate this problem.
