Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Eclipse Mojarra up to 5.0. Affected is the function DefaultFaceletFactory of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
In Eclipse Mojarra versions 2.3 and following, URL handing in `DefaultFaceletFactory` does not properly sanitize and/or block remote URLs, allowing an attacker to specify a URL to a remote Facelet which will be included and processed as part of the normal request, with the privileges of the target server. This could allow access to restricted files such as `WEB-INF/web.xml` or `/etc/passwd`.
