Details
A vulnerability has been found in AWS aws-transform-mcp-server up to 0.1.4 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function get_resource. The manipulation of the argument savePath with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory in the get_resource tool in Amazon awslabs.aws-transform-mcp-server 0.1.0 through 0.1.4 might allow a context-dependent actor to write arbitrary files outside the intended working directory via the savePath parameter. To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to version 0.1.5 or later.
