Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9/10. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component ADPCM Decoder. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-787. The product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability was found in the GStreamer gst-plugins-bad adpcmdec element when decoding IMA/DVI ADPCM audio. Insufficient validation of the per-block sample count for multi-channel streams allows a crafted WAV file to cause writes beyond the allocated output buffer. This can lead to application crash, denial of service, memory corruption, or potentially arbitrary code execution when untrusted media is processed.
The advisory is shared at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-19387 since 08/10/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/10/2026).
