Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Pinry up to 2.1.13. This affects the function requests.get of the component pin-from-URL feature. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A server-side request forgery vulnerability in Pinry through 2.1.13 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to make the server issue HTTP requests to arbitrary internal or external hosts via the pin-from-URL feature. The feature passes the user-supplied URL directly to requests.get() without host or IP validation, and ALLOW_NEW_REGISTRATIONS defaults to true enabling anonymous triggering. An attacker can reach internal services or cloud metadata endpoints from the server.
