Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.150/6.12.102/6.18.43/7.1.7/7.2-rc5. This affects the function cca_cipher2protkey of the component s390 zcrypt. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/zcrypt: Validate length for CCA AES cipher key requests cca_cipher2protkey() derives the copy length for the CPRB parameter block directly from the length field in the key token. Reject the request early if the token length exceeds the available space in the parameter block.
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-68452 since 07/30/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/13/2026).
