Details
A vulnerability has been found in Zimbra Collaboration up to 10.1.16 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component Briefcase. The manipulation of the argument packages with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
In Zimbra Collaboration (ZCS) before 10.1.17, a path traversal vulnerability exists in the Zimbra Briefcase document editing functionality due to improper validation of the packages parameter. An authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by supplying a crafted path traversal sequence, potentially allowing unauthorized disclosure of sensitive files within the web application directory.
