Absolute path traversal vulnerability in the EbCrypt.eb_c_PRNGenerator.1 ActiveX control in EBCRYPT.DLL 2.0.0.2087 and earlier in EB Design ebCrypt allows remote attackers to create or overwrite arbitrary files via a full pathname in the argument to the SaveToFile method. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.

The weakness was disclosed 09/24/2007 by shinnai (Website). The advisory is shared at shinnai.altervista.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-5110. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed by shinnai and been published immediately after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
