Details
A vulnerability was found in getgrav Grav up to 1.0.12. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function requireSuper of the file /api/v1/demo/reset of the component Grav API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a permission vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-275. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Grav API plugin (getgrav/grav-plugin-api) before 1.0.13 contains an API-key scope cap bypass in DemoController. Its private requireSuper() method checks isSuperAdmin() and returns early before invoking requirePermission(), so the api_key_scopes cap (enforced only in requirePermission()) is skipped. As a result, any scoped API key minted on a super account can bypass its scope restrictions when calling the baseline() and reset() operations (e.g. POST /api/v1/demo/reset), allowing it to capture the demo baseline or force a demo reset. Impact is bounded to demo-engine control and is conditional on demo mode being configured with writable resources.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-72823 since 08/10/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1222.
Upgrading to version 1.0.13 eliminates this vulnerability.
