Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in SiYuan-Note SiYuan up to 3.7.3. This vulnerability affects the function CheckAuth of the component Middleware. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a comparison vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-697. The product compares two entities in a security-relevant context, but the comparison is incorrect, which may lead to resultant weaknesses. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
SiYuan before v3.7.4 improperly restricts excessive authentication attempts in the CheckAuth() middleware. The HTTP Basic Authentication branch, which guards nearly the entire /api/* surface, accepts the workspace access code (Conf.AccessAuthCode) as the Basic Auth password but never consults the CAPTCHA/lockout gate or increments the failure counter used by the cookie/session login path. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to brute-force the admin access code with unlimited automated requests and obtain full RoleAdministrator access to the kernel. A secondary weakness exists because the access code is compared using a non-constant-time string comparison.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-73046 since 08/10/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 3.7.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
