Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in ProSolution Client Plugin up to 2.0.10. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function proSol_handleFileUpload of the component File Upload Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a unrestricted upload vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-434. The product allows the attacker to upload or transfer files of dangerous types that can be automatically processed within the product's environment. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

The ProSolution WP Client plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Upload in all versions up to, and including, 2.0.10 via the proSol_handleFileUpload function. This is due to missing validation of the attacker-controlled Content-Disposition header filename, which overrides the allow-listed multipart filename before the file is saved, and a post-save extension check that fails to delete the already-written file. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to upload files that may be executable, which makes remote code execution possible. The nonce required to reach the upload handler is publicly exposed via wp_localize_script on any front-end page rendering the job portal shortcode, allowing unauthenticated visitors to obtain a valid nonce and bypass that gating check entirely.

The advisory is shared at wordfence.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-16098 since 07/17/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/16/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1608.002 for this issue.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
