Multiple format string vulnerabilities in the kavwebscan.CKAVWebScan ActiveX control (kavwebscan.dll) in Kaspersky Online Scanner before 5.0.98 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in "various string formatting functions," which trigger heap-based buffer overflows.
The weakness was disclosed 10/12/2007 by Stephen Fewer with Harmony Security (Website). The advisory is shared for download at labs.idefense.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-3675 since 07/10/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
